The best Adobe Lightroom Alternative for Linux Systems!
Photography is not for windows or mac users only!, if you are a linux guy and passionate about photography and you're not able to switch just because of Software, then the solution is here! a complete package that works just like Lightroom, For free on your favorite linx distribution!
darktable is an open source photography workflow application and raw developer. A virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers. It manages your digital negatives in a database, lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable and enables you to develop raw images and enhance them. When you first open up the program, you are presented with a screen that looks like lightroom, for the most part! you have your lighttable where all your photos are placed, and where you can import pictures to from the left panel (import button), it has some functions there, exporting settings and stuff, then you move to the darktable panel where you do all your editing, in the right panel you have all the controls, from hue and saturation to contrast, color balance, shadows and highlights and a lot more, i'll let you see that by yourself, this program really impressed me and it has aweome results and an easy workflow!, and then you have other stuff like tethring, map and slideshow etc, you mostly won't use those! what really matters is the darktable! one thing that is cool about it is that it works really fast and it's light on the device and not resources extensive like Photoshop, i did not try lightroom for a long time so i could not tell, but this program is surely so fast to give you an amazing user experience! In order to download darktable, there is a link in their website where they show the installation steps for a lot of different distributions like Ubuntu, Fedora and Suse, ArchLinux and debian and some others more!
