What is LOG or FLAT Footage?

Today we're going to talk about LOG or Flat footage!

A lot of professionals in Videography or cinema, take advantage on what is called LOG COLOR PROFILE, that's what are we going to discuss in today's article and how can it be used to make your videos much better! LOG feature was only availble on high end cinematic cameras, but now, as photography gear is getting cheaper and tech in general, it's available on consumer grade's cameras, A LOG is mainly (logarithmic) but we won't get into details, a LOG in a camera is basically a Color Profile, this color profile allows you to preserve more dynamic range and tonal range, it distributes the exposure of what you're recording through all the image using a logarithmic function, think of it as a color profile that preserves shadows details in your shot! the colors will look washed out and the image will seem too flat, and that what gives you the most freedom when editing in post-processing, i've heard that you can achieve this on a smartphone using an app called Filmic Pro, it is not compatible with the device i have now, so i have not tried it yet!
